Emergencies
A seriously ill patient will always receive immediate attention. Please let the receptionist know if you have an urgent concern such as: Chest pain, bleeding, etc.
Telephoning Your Doctor
You can contact your family doctor during normal hours.
A message will be taken by our friendly reception staff as the doctors cannot always be interrupted during a consultation but would be happy to return your call at a later time.
Our practice staff will endeavour to help with your queries as much as possible. If the call is an emergency you will be put straight through to the doctor.
Appointments
You are encouraged to make appointments to minimise waiting times. Walk in patients will be attended to as soon as possible although patients with appointments or emergencies will be given queue priority. As every effort is made to see you on time, unforeseen circumstances may arise such as emergencies.
If you feel you may need extra time with a doctor, or if you are coming in with another family member, please advise the receptionist when making your appointment.
If you require an interpreter service*, we can organise this for you. Please let us know when making an appointment.
After Hours Care
If you require urgent medical attention outside of our normal surgery hours, please contact Eastern Ranges after hour medical service (1300 766 858) located next to Healesville hospital.
Home visits
Please contact afterhours Healesville Hospital, home visits doctors will perform some home visits when appropriate, but these are generally restricted to those who are too frail or ill to attend the surgery. Home visits may incur charges, please check with our reception staff for more details.
Fees
Our clinic is a bulk billing clinic. However, out of pocket fees might apply on some procedures, private forms or for consultations with allied health providers. For more information, please ask the reception staff.
Treatment Room
We are equipped to deal with minor surgical procedures such as the removal of skin lesions, repair of wounds and ingrown toe nails, through to more extensive procedures such as fractures and drainage of abscesses, respiratory problems, etc.
Computerisation
Patient registration and billing is fully computerised with doctors having ready access to the patient queue from their rooms. Program updates are maintained periodically to provide a secure and efficient service.
Results
For legal reasons, results can only be given to the person concerned for all patients 16 yrs or older. Your doctor may have omitted to inform you during your consultation to make another appointment for the results of your blood test/x-rays, ultrasounds etc. When making this appointment please advise the staff if it is for results only. Even if your results are normal you may need further assessment and review. A good example of this is a mammogram result for a breast lump. A normal scan does not completely exclude a problem and a further review maybe required.
Recalls
If you have abnormal test results a recall letter will be sent to you or you will be contacted by one of our professional reception staff requesting you to return to see the doctor. Please call the surgery to make an appointment at your earliest convenience. New privacy laws do not allow us to give results over the phone, please make an appointment with your doctor to receive the test results. Appointment for reviews are all bulk billed.
Patients’ rights
Patients are encouraged to be active participants in their health care. They are free to choose their preferred doctor if available and seek a second opinion on all health advice given.
*Special communication services for Patients
